What a tough course!<\/strong> Most certainly one of the toughest venues that I have raced at to date. The Dam was very low so the swim to T1 was long and steep. Into T1, grabbed the bike and then up a hairpin bend elevation onto the bike course which comprised of an 800mtr climb before exiting the resort. Out onto the road, the bike route was super-fast due to a tail wind, sometime reaching speeds of 70km\/h. Unfortunately that tail wind turned into a furious head wind on the way back in. Another lap and then back to transition.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-186\" src=\"http:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/3.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Racked the bike, running shoe on, Blade on and up that very same 800mtr hill again to connect to the run course which wormed through the campsite so at least very spectator friendly.<br \/>\n2 laps on the run, a short steep climb and then back down that long hill. One more hairpin bend and into the finishing straight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-187\" src=\"http:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/stanandrews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/4.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>Times weren\u2019t important to me as the conditions and course were most certainly not friendly. I still brought home the Gold with\u00a0an approximate 6 min lead on the next Para athlete, David Jones, who is in the PTVI category.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What I can take away from this event is that I am definitely feeling stronger.
